CLS
From Nikonians Wiki - FAQs, Photo Glossary, Good Photo Locations, Help
Nikon's Creative Lighting System, built into the SB-900, SB-800 and SB-600 Speedlight flashguns. CLS allows a commander to control up to three groups of lights.
It is basically a wireless control system allowing you to set up the system in a variety of advanced configurations from one main commander (typically the main flash on the camera). The commander sends data to the slaves using the flash light itself: Data is held in the monitor pre-flashes prior to the main flash (this cannot be detected by the eye as coming prior to the main flash).
The SB-800 supports the Creative Lighting System by providing the following main items:
- i-TTL mode
- Advanced Wireless Lighting
- Flash Value Lock
- Flash Color Information Communication
- Auto FP High Speed Sync
