Chamber cleaning
From Nikonians Wiki - FAQs, Photo Glossary, Good Photo Locations, Help
The chamber of an SLR camera is susceptible to dust brought in when lenses are changed, or present on a lens when fitted. In principle, chamber dust is not a problem, but it is a main source of dust on the sensor of digital SLRs, and can also be a reservoir for larger particles which could disrupt mirror operation.
The chamber should be periodically cleaned with a blower, though care must be taken to avoid introducing more dust. It can also be swabbed out with specialist cleaning materials, such as those from Visible Dust.
