Cloning
From Nikonians Wiki - FAQs, Photo Glossary, Good Photo Locations, Help
In postprocessing, cloning is the replacement of one part of an image with another part at an exact set distance from it.
In most software applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, cloning is achieved using the clone tool.
In practice, cloning can be used to replace a damaged part of a picture with a good part, or replace an unwanted feature with a plain or patterned area. Cloning is a technique which should be practised and carefully evaluated. Cloning can produce results which are indistinguishable from an actual photographic image, but it can also produce results which are obviously 'fake'.
