Colour enhancement
From Nikonians Wiki - FAQs, Photo Glossary, Good Photo Locations, Help
Colour enhancement is a form of postprocessing which renders the colours of the original so that they are (subjectively) more pleasing than the original scene. Where colour is being adjusted to more exactly reflect the original scene, it is referred to as colour correction. All the techniques of colour correction can be applied in colour enhancement. Where colour is altered in order to change the meaning of the picture, is it referred to as colour manipulation.
In addition to the techniques of colour correction, the following are often applied in colour enhancement:
- tonemapping
- saturation boosting
- selective colouring, for example, to darken sky
- warming and cooling
