Flash trigger

A flash trigger is a device to transfer the trigger signal from the camera to a studio strobe or flashgun.
Flash triggers include
- Sync cables, a simple wire connector from camera to flash
- Hot-shoe extension cable, like a sync cable but capable of carrying more information for dedicated flash
- Infrared signals, such as those used with Nikon speedlights from a Nikon commander
- General optical signals, infrared or visible, which trigger a simple optical cell in the flash head
- Wireless triggers, such as Pocket Wizards
