Good Locations Europe Denmark

In Denmark you can find a variety of different locations to shoot. A few things you should not look for: large cities with high sky scrapers, mountains, wide rivers or widespread deserts. There are none of those to be found.

But if you are looking for idyllic cities, small harbors, beautiful coastline and agricultural landscapes as well as undisturbed and clean nature you will find Denmark rich on subjects.

Specific locations worth a visit could be:

Copenhagen

- the Castle Island (Slotsholmen) with the old stock exchange, parliament, the royal library and many other historic buildings.

- the Opera and the Holmen area with the modern opera building as well as many historic buildings and old military and marine facilities

- Nyhavn, the old harbor with small, colorful houses and wooden boats - as well as lots of tourists.

Photographing people

Most Danes won't mind a camera, but like many other people, they tend more and more to dislike direct, candid-style street photography. Pointing your camera in someone's face in the street may provoke a remark.

On the other hand Denmark is a very safe and trusting country, and you can ask and will most likely get permission. If you move outside the big cities expect some skepticism, but also friendliness from the locals. People are a bit shy or distant at first, but mostly willing to enter into conversation and eventually have their picture taken.

If you want to shoot people in the streets places like the Townhall Square and the pedestrian streets in Copenhagen are good starting points.

Landscapes

One thing: find water! That is not difficult, because nowhere in Denmark is further than 50 kilometers or some 30 miles from the ocean - and there are lakes, streams, channels and ponds many places.

The flat landscape and the water are a couple of the hallmarks of the Danish landscape. Bright and open forests is another one, and several places you can find them in combination like on Stevns or in Ã…rhus Bugt.
