Membership upgrades are recorded instantaneously. If you don't see your membership level icon in the forums beside your name when you post a message, it is usually a cookie problem. Make sure your browser accepts cookies for proper identification.
To make sure it works, delete all of your Nikonians cookies. Close your browser. Re-start it again and login here:
