Negative space

Negative space is the concept of the shape the 'nothing' around objects makes. Good use of negative space can unify an image, while poor use of negative space can unbalance an otherwise pleasing image.

Extraneous elements which interrupt the negative space can be avoided in camera, or cropped out later.
