Oil on the blades
From Nikonians Wiki - FAQs, Photo Glossary, Good Photo Locations, Help
Oil on the blades is a common failure in certain Nikon lenses, such as the 35mm AF f2 and the 55mm AF Micro, where oil escaping crosses the blades of the iris diaphragm, slowing its action, and thus effectively preventing the iris from closing correctly when an exposure is made.
Oil on the blades can only be repaired by an authorised Nikon repairer. Sadly, in many cases, the cost of the repair is higher than the cost of a second-hand replacement.
