Photo-montage

Photo-montage is the combining of two or more images into a new image, or the re-use of elements in an image elsewhere within that image in a similar way.

Photo-montage is most obviously presented as collage, where a number of images are put together with no attempt to persuade the viewer that they represent a single scene.

Photo-montage is used extensively in advertising photography to combine images either to perfect an image, or to create an image which could not have been achieved reliably or economically in another way.

Photo-montage is occasionally used in photojournalism, generally resulting in huge controversy, and, often, in the loss of the job of the photographer and/or the picture editor, unless the caption clearly states 'photo-montage' or some similar wording.
