Soft Lighting
From Nikonians Wiki
Low contrast illumination, allowing for more pleasing portraits; without harsh contrast.
Soft lighting can be achieved in a number of ways, including:
- Using ambient light
- Using light modifiers with studio lights, especially shoot through umbrellas, soft boxes and reflectors
- feathering the light from a parabolic reflector, such as those fitted to theatre lights
- Diffusion of light sources through translucent objects, such as foliage
