Tonemapping
From Nikonians Wiki
Tonemapping is an adaptive postprocessing technique, usually applied through a plugin or stand alone application which creates areas of local contrast in the image, thereby giving the impression of a much greater dynamic range.
Tonemapping can be used as a form of exposure correction, or as a tool for colour enhancement or colour manipulation.
Tonemapping is also generally employed for the display of HDR images.
Software applications which provide tonemapping include:
- Photomatix tonemapping
- Hydra
