Caracas
Caracas is home to some splendid views and historic monuments. However, the high crime rate means that it is essential to pay close attention to your equipment at all times, and keep it out of sight where possible. All relevant warnings, for example those put out by embassies, should be carefully noted.
- The pass from the airport at Maiquetia to Caracas over Galipan, only accessible by 4x4, offers superb views
- The cable car up Avila offers a magnificent view of the city
- Simon Bolivar's house, and the Simon Bolivar museum
- The Panteon Nacional, celebrating the nation's heroes, allows photography, but not flash photography
