Annotate-How to install

Annotate! by Nikonians® is located here: https://www.nikonians.org/annotate
You need the Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 installed on your computer to run it. Most installations of Microsoft Windows 2000 and later (XP, Vista, Windows 7) should support .NET 2.0 directly, without any need to additionally download it. In case you do not have .NET framework 2.0 on your computer, the installer downloads and installs it automatically for you. Annotate! uses ClickOnce technology to automatically check for updates on every start of the application. It offers to install a newer version as soon as it is available.
The ClickOnce technology stores application data in Application Cache, a special directory managed by .NET framework. You do not need to worry about install location or shared files. The ClickOnce technology will make sure that the application is isolated and uses only its own libraries. To clear all offline files, thumbnails and cached data created by Annotate!, go to help window (F1), then click “About Annotate!” and press “Clear cached data” button.
Currently Annotate! does not support Apple Macintosh. You can use the separately available .NET runtime environment “mono” to run the application on Macintosh and UNIX environments, but there are severe limitations to the program under “mono” so we have opted to not support this combination as of now.
We will provide a Mac OS X version of Annotate at a later date, currently scheduled for summer 2010.
