The natural ambient light available without using a flash or other lighting. Available light photography is one of the classic photographic disciplines. Most landscape and wildlife photography is available light based. Almost all other types of photography, including portrait and photojournalism can be shot using available light.

The latest DSLR cameras, with high ISO performance, make the best use of available light even if very dim.
