Element
From Nikonians Wiki
In composition, a distinct visual feature in the final image is an element. Typically an element is an object in the original scene, but elements can also be formed in other ways, such as strong use of negative space, or the juxtaposition of two shapes to form (often unintentionally and with poor consequences) a single element.
