Focal plane
From Nikonians Wiki
In optics, the focal plane is one of the cardinal points and planes of the optical system.
In an ideal lens system, the focal plane is a plane parallel to the lens which contains the focal point, and which is thus a plane on which everything is in focus.
In practice, the focal plane is the plane of maximum focus, but for most lenses focus diminishes towards the corners of the lens.
- When a point is in focus on the lens, every other point which is the same distance from the lens will be in focus.
