Gel
From Nikonians Wiki
A gel is a thin piece of flexible coloured plastic designed to go over a light to change the colour temperature or to introduce a creative colour effect. Gels are sold in large squares, and cut to size for mounting.
It is important to confirm that the lights in use are suitable for gels. In particular, halogen lights may melt standard gels. Gels are generally designed for lights used in theatres and in the film industry, so studio strobe lights and hand-held flashguns should not cause any problems.
