Optical media
From Nikonians Wiki
Optical media refers to CD-ROM, CD-R, and the various formats of recordable DVD, as well as a variety of older proprietary formats of writeable optical disks, known as WORM drives (write once, read many).
Many people believe that optical media is a form of non-volatile storage. However, most types of optical media degrade over time.
