Overexposed
From Nikonians Wiki
Overexposed refers to the result of setting a too-low aperture and/or too-fast shutter speed for the light conditions and ISO setting. The image will appear very bright, with no black shadows. When the histogram is viewed, values will be stacked up at the extreme right end, indicating blown highlights.
An image shot in Raw may appear overexposed on the preview, but can often be remedied in Photoshop, Capture NX or another Raw processor.
Some types of image may be overall correctly exposed, but be overexposed in some places with hot spots or blown highlights, which are areas of pure white. These can be remedied in Raw, or with specialist software such as Imagetrends Shine off. This is typically a result of including lights in the shot, or of the reflection of flash on slightly greasy skin.
