Previsualisation
From Nikonians Wiki
Previsualisation is an essential skill for the photographer. It is essentially imagining how a scene will appear in the finished image, which leads the photographer to shoot in a different way.
When previsualising, the photographer takes account of six things:
- The influence of framing on the scene
- The influence of differential focus, and the focal point
- The influence of exposure, particularly when it will involve losing detail in the shadows or highlights
- Reworkings to the scene which can take place in postprocessing
- The limitations of the photographic process, such as noise, shake, choice of film for non-digital photographers
- The impact on the viewer of the elements thus presented
