SWMBO or Swimbo (as is generally pronounced) means She Who Must Be Obeyed.
Advanced matriarchal cultures, in humble submissiveness and resignated respect, use SWMBO when among males -to use it when in the company of females has proven to be ill-advised. Such societies at times also use 'IAYM' (I am your Master!) also to refer to the woman with the authority in the family, clan or tribe.
This initialism was popularized by John Mortimer, a British writer and barrister, in the words of Horace Rumpole, his main character of the TV Series 'Rumpole of the Bailey' since 1967. Horace Rumpole secretely called his wife 'SWMBO', in reference to the remarkable novel 'She: A History of Adventure' by Sir Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925). It should be noted that the first name of the mother of the writer was Ella, which in Spanish means 'She'. Sir Henry was also the author of other very successful novels like 'King Solomon's Mines' and its sequel 'Allan Quatermain'
The main reason to include the term in this Photo Glossary is because NAS sufferers are strongly advised to keep SWMBO in mind when it comes to expensive purchases, regardless of whether SWMBO is the spouse or mother.
