Nikon's proprietary brand name for its handheld flashguns, such as the SB-5000 and the SB-800.

Current Speedlights are fully dedicated for Nikon cameras, and make use of focal length, ISO, aperture and other information provided by the camera. The current line of flash unit make up the Creative Lighting System (CLS) with such features as Advanced Wireless Lighting with a Commander unit controlling several slave flash units.

There are multiple third-party vendors providing more or less compatible flash units for the CLS system, often producing look-alikes of the well known Nikon flash units. These units may be cheaper than the Nikon units and may or may not work well with Nikon cameras.
