WORM
From Nikonians Wiki
Write Once Read Many refers to computer storage systems which store information a single time for multiple reading later. CD-R was the first popular type of WORM device, but, in fact, CD-R is very rarely referred to as WORM, as CD is a more familiar term for most people. Other types of WORM include earlier proprietary optical formats, computer punch cards, and Programmable Read Only Memory chips (PROMs).
