Your system won't take my payment, what do I do?

1. Make sure your address data under "My Profile" is correct

  • Go to your membership profile
  • Top right hand side are the address fields. Please verify that they are filled out and correct
  • Click the save button
  • Now try again to process your membership payment


2. Should you have issues getting your credit/debit card to go through, you can always select the second payment method we offer: "Credit card via PayPal or PayPal" to use your card via PayPal instead. Cards that may not work under the first payment option "American Express, Visa, Mastercard" have often been shown to work this way. You may want to try that now

Selecting the second payment method "Credit card via PayPal or PayPal" has been shown to work well if the debit/credit card did not work using the first option



3. If you don't want to go via PayPal, please check the following to make sure your credit/debit card is going through:

Please read the error message shown carefully. Make sure you are using one of the credit cards we accept.

And, make sure...

  • That your card has the 3D Secure feature (American Express SafeKey, VisaSecure, MasterCard SecureCode) enabled. Not having this feature enabled is THE issue for members having an issue using their credit or debit cards. We are legally bound to do this extra verification step and some US cards, seemingly the ones provided by non-banks or small banks, may lack this feature. More info and help about this
  • That your card can be used outside of North America: We are clearing your membership payment in Germany and you may need to advise your bank about this fact.
  • That you enter your name EXACTLY as it is printed on your credit card. If you have a very short name on the card, e.g. "P W Lee" the clearing company may refuse processing. If that happens, try to write out the full, first name.
  • You enter your address EXACTLY as in your credit card statement.
  • If your zip code contains spaces (like in Canada and the UK) do not enter them
  • Your browser is not using an auto-fill feature: It may place correct information in the wrong entry fields.
