AF-D lens
From Nikonians Wiki
Nikkor lenses introduced in 1992. AF lenses with a CPU to relay distance information to the camera, most useful for 3D Color Matrix Metering for improved exposure metering and ultra-precise TTL flash as in 3D Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-Flash. Among the first AF-D lenses were the 35-70mm f/2.8D AF and 80-200mm f/2.8D ED AF.
G-type lenses also have this CPU.
AF-D lenses do not have built-in Autofocus motor, which in comparison the AF-S lenses have.
