Flash Value Lock
From Nikonians Wiki
The Flash Value, or FV is the amount of light exposing the subject. You can lock this value with certain digital SLR cameras, often using a dedicated button "Fv lock".
Locking the flash value (the flash exposure) gives you a main subject that is lit with the same amount of light no matter if you are changing the composition, zoom in or out or change the aperture.
